Newsletter: January 2015....or is it June? (30 Jan 2015)

We hope you are all finding yourselves busy with classes and customers making those winter quilts.

For those who have been experiencing the cold, cold days of winter, we feel for you. In Calgary, we are not sure if it is winter or spring.....feels more like spring!  But I'm told not to speak too soon out here as a deep freeze is sure to be just around the corner.

Lee and I have been busy adding new products to the website and making sure all of you are listed on our shopfinder pages.  If we have missed anyone, please let us know.

What happened to the $CDN?

Sadly, we are now paying $1.27 for every US dollar these days and then adding the bank's additional 3-4% on top of that.  Unfortunately that means that prices will have to go up....we held off as long as we could, but prices will be increasing as of Feb.1st.

We are continuing with our commitment to ensure that Canadian customers do not pay more (and usually less) to order from Erie Quilt Art than they would pay when ordering direct.  We calculate exchange, but we are able to keep shipping prices down by bringing in large orders and we are offering free shipping to you, our customers, on all orders over $500.

February Special offers

Now that the move is well behind us, we are focusing on bringing in new products for our Canadian shops and long-arm quilting customers and spreading the word about the ever growing array of products we have in stock.  We are noticing that many of you purchase a few product lines only.....yet there is so much more!  For the month of February, we are offering a 10% discount on items from product lines you are purchasing for the first time or have not purchased in 2014.  In addition, if you add a new line of Superior Threads, separate from those you are purchasing now, we will offering a 10% discount on the new threads (if you purchase King Tut now and add Magnifico, you will receive a 10% discount on your Magnifico purchases)

 Bohin Notions

We will have Bohin Notions from France in stock within the next week.  We are excited to be their Canadian distributor.  Watch the website for these great products.

Big Fork Bay Cotton Co. patterns - Feb. special

Big Fork Bay Cotton Co. is out of business and there is no sign of them coming back. We have a good stock of most of the patterns in house but once they are gone, they are gone. For the month of February, we are offering all BFBCC patterns at $5 each....most wholesale for $8-9 now.

Toni Whitney is alive and well and still designing new patterns!

Toni Whitney was one of the original pattern designers for Big Fork Bay Cotton Co. and then Toni started her own company. We still have some of the BFBCC Toni Whitney patterns in stock (they will be $5 as well).  These BFBCC-TW patterns will not be reprinted as they were the property of BFBCC.

The patterns produced by Toni under the Toni Whitney brand are on our website under her own company name and are will continue to be available with new patterns coming out on a regular basis.

Fabric kits

We will not be producing our own fabric kits for either BFBCC or TW patterns going forward.  Toni Whitney fabric kits will be available and we will be sourcing them directly from Toni Whitney. We do have a supply of the BFBCC 'chicken dot' fabric.  If you are interested, let us know.  We can supply it by the metre or by the bolt till it is gone at $5/metre

Hearts and more by Sue Pelland Design

Sue Pelland's Hearts and More templates and patterns are great for those February Valentine and Heart month projects.  If you haven't tried them already, they are great for classes .....and we can help you to set up a display section in your shop for her products, with signage and all!
